The Explorean Cozumel is built around the island rather than the pool. Each night's stay includes one daily activity per person, led by the resort's own guides in small groups, planned around the weather and the season. Snorkeling trips, buggy tours around the island and visits to Punta Sur are part of the programme, and guests can keep going to the beaches on the far side of Cozumel with drinks and snacks included.

Rooms are casitas, stand-alone with one king bed or two doubles, set among the trees. A pool with a wooden deck sits in the garden, and the Caribbean is a three-minute walk away, where the sister property Fiesta Americana Cozumel All Inclusive opens its beach club and amenities to Explorean guests.

Meals are served at a restaurant overlooking the pool and the greenery, and drinks at the Lobby Bar. There is a spa for therapeutic treatments, and dogs are welcome with a bed and bowls waiting on arrival.

It suits couples and active travellers who would rather be out on the island by mid-morning.
