Marquis Los Cabos sits on the Cabo Real stretch of the Tourist Corridor, a long white building facing the Sea of Cortez with desert mountains behind it. Three pools run along the sand, two of them infinity pools, and in winter whales are often visible from the suites in the morning. The beach itself has strong waves. A swimmable cove is about a seven-minute walk away.

The resort is adults-only, with a minimum age of 18 and no exceptions. It has 209 hotel suites, most with a private balcony or terrace, plus 25 casitas by the ocean and the pools. Each casita has its own plunge pool, and so do the five Master Suites. Rooms have hydromassage bathtubs and Nespresso machines, and the minibar is refreshed daily.

There are five restaurants, a coffee spot and in-suite dining. Vista Ballenas is the main restaurant, with a buffet breakfast and Mexican dinners over the water. Sakke has teppanyaki tables, Pergola is an open-air spot with a stone oven, and Dos Mares serves ceviche and fish tacos by the pool. Canto del Mar is the four-course French signature restaurant and carries an extra charge, as do Spa Marquis treatments. Suspiro Bar stays open until 1 am.

The resort is a member of The Leading Hotels of the World and has been open since 2003. It suits couples who want a quiet beachfront base between San José del Cabo, 15 minutes away, and Cabo San Lucas, 20 minutes away.
