The Grand Decameron Complex spreads three hotel units, Flamingos, Tropical and Royal, across a stretch of the long Banderas Bay beach at Bucerías, in Riviera Nayarit. The airport is 20 minutes away. The buildings are colonial in style and colourful, in six blocks around tropical gardens and pools.

There are 620 rooms in Standard, Ocean View and Oceanfront versions, each with a balcony or terrace over the gardens or the sea, taking one king bed or two doubles and up to four guests. The Oceanfront rooms have a terrace with a direct view of the water.

Each unit has its own buffet for breakfast and lunch. The à la carte side adds Piccolo for Italian pastas and wood-fired pizza, Wok for Thai, Jap Jap for sushi and sashimi, Rodizio for grilled cuts and Mexicano for Mexican dishes, five à la carte and three buffet restaurants in all. Seven bars are spread along the beach and the pools.

There are five pools, four of them built with children in mind. Days fill with kayaks, boogie boards, paddleboards and catamarans, two tennis courts, a pickleball court and a soccer field, plus a gym and a spa. Conga, the nightclub, has live DJs and an open bar.

It suits families and groups who want size, a long beach and a lot on offer each day.
